God Is Glorified In Disability

God Is Glorified In Disability
“Then the Lord said to him (Moses), “Who made man’s mouth? Who makes him mute, or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD.” – Exodus 4:11

I think we could add a few more things to the end of that list.

  • paralyzed from birth?
  • cerebral palsy?
  • brain damage?
  • down syndrome?

Basically any form of being ‘disabled’ or handicapped. Who made them this way and why?

Go back up and read again what God says about the origin of these disabilities. It’s pretty straightforward: “Is it not I, the LORD.”

Are sinful people involved in some of these scenarios that lead to disabilities? Yes, of course.

But God stands above it all and doesn’t shy away from his sovereignty. The ultimate responsibility of the physical or mental condition of all mankind falls on God.

For seven years we have pursued Selena. For seven years my heart has grown in love for her. For seven years I've longed to take care of her in my own home.

And for seven years now we have not been able to move forward.

Will it happen? I don't know.

I am confident in the sovereignty of God, but at times I feel like he is withholding Selena from us. Why would he do that? Why would he close an entire country's international adoption system down? Adoption is such a good, gospel-centered, thing!

Psalm 84:11 says,

"The LORD God is my sun and shield; The LORD bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly."

Worthless Religion vs. Pure Religion

Worthless Religion vs. Pure Religion

We live in a religious culture. Not a Christian culture, but a religious culture. Even here in my cubicle, I have sitting next to me, a professing Muslim, a Catholic, an atheist and another Christian. It's important to recognize this because no one operates without religion. Even the atheist has a religion, a system of beliefs and truths that govern their lives. We are surrounded by 'religion.'

"If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this; to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." - James 1:26-27

Urgent Need: Earthquake damages and moving cost!

Urgent Need: Earthquake damages and moving cost!

On Monday there was a 6.9 Earthquake in Guatemala that literally shook the whole country. There was a lot of damages including the rent house where Selena and the foster family are staying. We contacted Randy Doleman and The Orphan Care Network about raising some financial help through them. They are amazing and picked up the story. You can see our post on their site about it in more detail. Because of damages, Selena and the family are moving today and tomorrow to another home. Any donations that you can give from today until Monday we will be sending to help cover all these unexpected moving cost and other damage caused by the earthquake. Head over to their site, donate if you can and consider sharing this need. Thank you. God bless. GO TO THE POST TO HELP, CLICK HERE>

Does God Really Meet All Our Needs?

Does God Really Meet All Our Needs?

"And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." 1 Phil. 4:19 Have any needs in your life? Me too..

Ever seem like those needs aren't being met? Me too..

So when we see a passage of scripture like Philippians 4:19, we have to stop and ask a few questions. If we don't  dig in and find the deeper connections, we might easily think the Bible isn't true because we've got needs that aren't being currently met.

That's a very dangerous conclusion.

But if we stop and ask God to help us understand, God loves to help those who are humble and lean on him. (1 Peter 5)
